I find that at this time of year I get particulalry anxious and irritable which has a negative effect upon my family when they should be feeling happy and excited. I start to worry and dread the Christmas / New Year period arriving because of all the hassle and family arguments we have experienced in the past. Can hypnotherapy and / or counselling help with thsi problem?
Hello there Tracey
Thank you for your question and I think it is one that a lot of people can identify with in one way or another. That said it obviously causes you and your family some distress and does need tackling. Generally I believe that we learn and adopt strategies t...

Hi there
You are not alone feeling like this about what is supposed to be one of the most happiest and exciting events in your life. I guess you and your mother have been living, breathing and planning this wonderful event for some time now, and as the day gets nearer it is not surprising that the stress has built up. Likewise with your best man, after all how many "best men" are used to standing up on their own in front of a audience to deliver what is supposed to a witty, interesting and no...

Are you qualified to teach Hypnotherapy and would this be something you would consider doing at your practice?
Hi there Kerry
Thank you for question. If by "teach hypnotherapy" you mean teach prospective students to become clinical hypnotherapists then the short answer is NO, and,if you are thinking about training to become a hypnotherapist I would reccomend that you have a look on the National Council for Hypnotherapy web site for a list of reputable training courses and qualified teachers.
If, on the other hand, you mean can I teach clients to use "self hyponotherapy" (self hypnosis)then the ans...

I have to have some dental work done and I am afraid and have a low pain thresh-hold. I have seen a program on television showing someone who had had hypnotherapy to help her during her dental work and wondered if this really would work and how long would it take to be able to do this?
Yes what you saw on television really was the real thing and yes hypnotherapy can be used very effectievly to help manage and control pain. There are a couple of ways to do this and the best way for you would be decided at your initial assessment appointment. You would also learn the art of self hypnosis to manage and control the pain in the situation, therefore you do not have to rely on someone else being present at the time. The added benefit of this is that whilst the sessions would focus on...

I have been told that I have a complex of problems, how would you go about sorting this out for me?
First of all I would want to understand what you meant by the term "complex problems" as this can mean different things to different people in different contexts. I would then want to know what was the nature of your complex problems, who, if anyone, had told you that you had complex probelms and what,if any, diagnosis have you been told or given.
At your intial assessment, and in complete confidence, I would take full details of any medical and psychological problems you may have had, as well a...
